Project Amazonas, a Peruvian-American non-profit organization that focuses on humanitarian, educational, research and conservation work in the Peruvian Amazon, maintains field stations and provides medical trips to remote villages, as well as specialized expeditions and ecotourism.

In October 2011, the Reforestation and Environmental Education Committee (TREE) was formed with the following goals:

  • To protect primary forest from commercial logging, via land acquisition, education and vigilance, consistent with the mission of Project Amazonas
  • To expedite the re-growth and recovery of previously de-forested lands by prudent introduction of selected species
  • To plan and establish areas of sustainable growth and food production
  • To provide opportunities for research and education
  • To foster a symbiotic relationship with the local community
